Charlie Ponger:Hey, everyone, thank you so much for listening to the official seenagers. we name this episode the pillows. You're about to hear me on the Debbie Niagra radio show you want to laugh? Well, here you go. Oh, and if you wouldn't mind, please subscribe or patron us have been incredibly grateful. Please seek. Debbie Howard.
Debbie Nigro:Oh my gosh. He says hello, I start laughing Did you ever have somebody in your life that you just when you see them or hear their name just burst into laughter you're one of my lifelong bursters you know how long we've known each other? Oh, I can't even imagine now. It's been over
Charlie Ponger:20 years. 26 years.
Debbie Nigro:Really? You're that old? Unbeliev unbelievable. So, little backstory Charlie ponger. And I met some years ago, when he was the general manager of a radio. You may be too old now. I don't know. You're 26 years. I can't be that old. Oh, Bobby checked my birth certificate. I don't think I'm this old. I am ageless, timeless and weightless. And he's saying we know each other 26 years. Bobby,
Charlie Ponger:when did you start here?
Bob Small:Charlie? I don't go years, Charlie. Charlie hired me. So yeah, I'm afraid we're he's right.
Debbie Charlie:Wow, you're really old. But you look so young. And I love you. And we're gonna have some real fun today. Because nothing like a sense of humor to talk about love. And this is a month of love. And it so happens that Charlie and I both are proud parents of daughters. But have not had the marital path. Take a smooth Sleigh Ride, if you will. Okay, is that a good way of describing it? And so we are good family, people. We are good hearted people. We are generous people. And yet our love lives have been the fabric of which your mother's grandmother's quilt could never put the pieces together anyway, we could say disaster. Okay, well, I'm dating somebody now I actually really, really think might be a contender. And you just had a breakup. So we are going to live and live on air, we're going to be straight up during this show about our personal lives and talk about love in general and life in general. Love lives become a problem sometimes. And you don't intend for that to be the beginning path, you will hopefully hope that you're going to find someone who's going to match with you and live happily ever after for as long as that list. Okay, and then dumb stuff comes up. Because as you go through life, people acquire really weird quirks. And I do believe that matches made in heaven after a certain age. How based strictly on can you tolerate the other person's quirks, right? Because we have our own, which we all speak for you. We we own our quirks at a certain point. And we know what they are. We can pretend we don't see them. But they are. But when you see somebody else's, they're very loud. And you don't want to be rude. But like, Hey, you got some problems here. So just as a as a really funny start to our good relationship show. I asked you we hadn't talked in a while. Right? You and I don't see each other for months. No, everything changes show up. Get right in the studio. We never talked before we go on because we want to waste it don't want to do it. Yeah. And then we just howl. Right? So I thought you had met somebody beautiful and lovely. And you seemed happy. And I also had met somebody and which is very unusual. After all the years I hadn't met somebody special. And we were sharing a happy moment. And then I wrote you back as a break. Bring up that happy thing person you met and you said it's over. And I said in my text message. Why? And he writes back pillows. So I drive off the road just because you don't need to say more than that in a text. But I did write back what was the question? And we'll talk about it now. We don't have to mention any we will ever ever. And I'm sorry it didn't work out. It's fine.
Charlie and Debbie:It was the pillows. Okay, explain what you want the little pre story behind this or just go write
Debbie Nigro:only what you want to share. Alright, so
Charlie Ponger:So I meet this, by the way, I don't like to date right I mean, either I hate it. No. So I don't like to date I don't like being fixed up.
Debbie Nigro:No, neither any of that sleeve flip lowers. Yeah, we've uh Whoa, we didn't need we didn't really need to we're enough energy people that we love to go out and we don't need to be attached to somebody you know, that's almost like a detriment right for some time. Yeah, yeah. Because we like to share love with the world. But no bad way we like we flirt with the world old people, young people, you know, we're nondenominational.
Charlie Ponger:No prejudice here.
Debbie Nigro:With men, women, children, animals. inanimate objects. Give me a little
Charlie Ponger:there's a tick on me. Look how nice that is.
Debbie Nigro:No, but you know what I'm saying? I hold the dogs this is the the cliffhanger music where people are gonna come back. Oh, just to hear why you had a break.
Charlie Ponger:This is a great story
Debbie Nigro:because The pillows Oh, I just can't wait. All right, listen, lots coming up about love this show, it's going to be just a fun show about love. Those who are seeking it, those who are trying to hang on to it, those who are annoyed with it. Those who just know that it's important to love yourself, Puppy Love, I don't know, we'll hit all the other topics that we can. Because it's a month of love. And I love my friend, Charlie ponger. And I love you to Bob and I'm gonna cheat on you right in front of you. But if you're gonna cheat, like right in front, I brought him to our little early to do bottom into the lair. All right, come on back. Okay, choose the month of love. And I really want you to think of it as not just a whole month but like a whole new idea, but how you're going to deal with love in your life seeking it, keeping it sparking it. Most of all appreciating it and you know, sometimes you need to show somebody else that you really appreciate them. And you need to show that by sort of taking extraordinary measures sometimes not all the time. But once in a while a little surprise extraordinary doesn't hurt anybody. So there's a place called the Castle Hotel in spots in Tarrytown, New York. At the highest point overlooking the Hudson River, and it is one of the small Luxury Hotels of the World. It is magnificent. I mean we don't have that many castles left in the world to enjoy. They're impeccably appointed. They have beautiful rooms, luxury suites and fireplaces, wink wink, and beautiful food and restaurant and ambience Equis restaurant, one of the New York Times five star rated restaurants and a spa like no other in the United States is called sunkara. They're just redoing the whole thing. It is spectacular. So maybe you just want to go for dinner, brunch lunch, a cocktail in the General bar, maybe get a massage or maybe a couples massage point is loves important when you find it, honor it. And when you have it, appreciate it. And every once in a while, let the other person know Castle, hotel and spa.com. So what's in your heart you got to go for often it's love and people kind of hesitate. Sometimes when it comes to you know, making the first move, meeting somebody new, you know, everybody's got their own issues and you know, confidence issues. And before you know it, you're uncoupled before you're coupled because you talk yourself out of it. Anyway, in studio today, my wonderful friend and family favorite laugh partner on air for sure. Charlie ponger. So
Charlie Ponger:by I know we laugh a lot, though.
Debbie Nigro:I don't know what it is. It's just like we must have a genetic connection to the left chromosome or something. Is there a left? Oh, no. All right. So Charlie, we left the cliffhanger. Yeah, we're both happened. We're both happen to be divorced. Single parents longtime single and dating along the way. And every once in a while, you know, some crazy good thing happens. But mostly it's the search of the good thing. All right. So we thought in our last text conversation, we both might have found something lovely. I did he did and then it's Snap, Crackle pop. And he lost it over a pillow. So now we're talking about what happened here. And why you uncoupled? Was it conscious uncoupling. But on her
Charlie Ponger:part, absolutely. Well, actually consciously uncouple he consciously uncouple because of a pillow or a pillow pillows? Were the catalyst to the whole thing.
Debbie Nigro:So don't compromise your name or no,
Charlie Ponger:of course not. I mean, I have total respect for thank you most people, okay. Okay, so you mean how did you meet? Yeah, so, uh, a buddy of mine said go to this high school reunion. So it was the year after my graduating class, but I knew a lot of people so I go to this dinner that meet the bar the night before. And I can act with this wonderful woman you know, the pheromones kicked in? We couldn't you know,
Debbie Nigro:I love that stop.
Charlie Ponger:thing. And I said to myself self. I met somebody close to my own age. How do you like that? Isn't that wonderful? We're gonna have a lot in common. We know the same people Bubble Bubble blah. She couldn't have been nicer now. She lived out in the aisle. She lives out in the island. Okay, so that night she said this was wonderful.
Debbie Nigro:Long Island for those of you who are outside the tri state Long
Charlie Ponger:Island. Thank you. Oh, why are you leaving? So soon? I got a meeting in the morning you know moving so fast forward. Fast forward. Go to her house. Okay, so drive. Okay, good. Her house everything's great yet across a bridge right across a bridge. A deal breaker. Anybody lives when you have to cross a bridge for them? Phenomenal. I show up. She's got my organic bananas. Nice. Kado how thoughtful is this person? Right and with everything it was so much fun. And I thought the first night I was sleeping downstairs. I mean I really wanted to and she wouldn't have that. Okay, okay, so all that's great. So now fast forward and all of a sudden things start to go a little and I should have known when this happened. The pillows I shut at caught on right. So but it lasted in my brain for about four seconds but wait to hear Okay,
Debbie Nigro:can't wait.
Charlie Ponger:Hey baby. Do you like the pillows? You have enough pillows? How many pillows were there? Generally there were only four and I really like a lot of pillows. Yeah. Okay, so she goes and gets what kind of pillows? I can't believe she's asking me for pillows, soft pillows. Calm and seven tab really. Couple of weeks go by all of a sudden I'm in bed getting ready for bed. All the pillows are lined up perfectly because you want to talk about anal retentive.
Debbie Nigro:Wow, that's good. You got one of those. Yeah. So
Charlie Ponger:you had to fold the tinfoil properly if you wanted to reuse it. Oh, this is fun. I learned a lot. Sorry. Right. So this is great. So I start fooling around with the pillows.
Debbie Nigro:He moved them. I moved them now. Yes, he just lodged the pattern dislodged. I heard about this.
Charlie Ponger:She was down at the edge of the bed now turns to me and says like what are you doing touching my pillow? Right.
Debbie Nigro:Right. I was joking, right, huh?
Charlie Ponger:I'm not sure how to be a joke right now. I'm really playing around with the pillows.
Debbie Nigro:Did you bust in chalk? She
Charlie Ponger:said I'm serious. Oh, she was really serious. So I'm still like I think she's joking because it's so positive. I should put the pillows and she turns into like a Blair in The Exorcist.
Debbie Nigro:Don't touch my pillow. Oh
Charlie Ponger:you got to be kidding me.
